Yesterday was the Big Day. The day I got to follow through on my crazi-plunge!
Yes, I went into the Atlantic Ocean in FEBRUARY! And it was a blast!
There's about 10 minutes before they allow us to go in. Time to strip! |
On the beach it was 35 degrees with a little breeze blowing. After I stripped, I hid behind AZ for protection.
Me and Neicy Before the Plunge |
The Sand was COLD and icy on the bare toes. And then they blew the whistle!
Woo ho! Get me OUTTA HERE! |
The water was 38 degrees. Warmer than the air but still numbing. If you enlarge the picture above, you will see the safety divers. I went out and said "hi" to him. Then a wave came and washed over "The Girls". brrrrrrr
Legs? Who needs them! Wait... are they still there? |
AZ was waiting at the waters edge with my towel! HEAVEN!
All done! |
Once again, it was a LOAD of fun! Around 9 pm last night I told AZ I was finally warm again.
There were over 3,500 nuts wonderful people on the beach with me and Neicy yesterday and together we raised over $650,000 for Special Olympics DE. Imagine the wonderful things they can do for all the special kids in DE! It warms my heart to imagine it!
I've of these years I'm going to go watch you. but then again I get to stay warm just looking art the pictures ;-) looks like you all had fun.
ReplyDeleteI say it every year, you're nuts! And awesome :)
ReplyDeleteYou're crazy and nuts and awesome! I can't get warm even when I'm not torturing myself with 38 degree water !
ReplyDeleteok for the record i am shivering for you now...smiles...
ReplyDeleteFun! And cold!
ReplyDeleteAs awesome as I think the charity aspect of this event is, the "nuts" factor is off the charts!
ReplyDeleteI can totally see how it took you alllllllll day to finally get rid of the chill.
Man oh man...I'm impressed (and appalled by) you. ;)
