Books, Books and Even More Books!

I love books. I love reading. I love being transported to another world, another time and place. Son doesn't like to read. He doesn't understand how you can be taken to another world when you are sitting right here. humph. We'll have to work on that.

Anywho, back to books. I love to read and I am very fortunate to have a friend and neighbor who also loves books! In the past year, Denise has shared ever so many books and I am SO grateful. Without Denise, I would not have read Abraham's Daughter series, the Twilight books or The Shack. I am not finished with The Shack yet. I'm going to read another chapter or two when I am done here.

So, Denise at Sunflowers, Chocolate and Little Boys (yes, same friend and neighbor) was having a book give away! COOL! Enter me! PLEASE! Denise was giving away The Sound of Sleigh Bells by Cindy Woodsmall. I LOVE the Amish books! Now I just have to find time to stop over and pick it up. And I need to do that before Saturday. Why you ask?

I have signed up for Dewey's Read-A-Thon.

For 24 hours, we read books, post to our blogs about our reading, and visit other readers’ blogs. We also participate in mini-challenges throughout the day. It happens twice a year, in April and in October.

Now, I don't know how much time I will actually be reading, I already have things scheduled for the evening with Son that I cannot change at this time. Of course, since Audio Books count, maybe I will load up my MP3 player and listen while I walk beside his parade float. Great Idea!

I also have to work on my reading list. I have several eBooks that I want to read, some classics as well as some books that I can read to Son. Maybe I can get him to participate with me as well! Later this week I share my reading list with you.

Please, check back often on Saturday as I plan on posting as I finish books or at least every few hours or so, just to take a break from reading a book!

  1. I had never heard of the 24 hour read-a-thon. I would love to do something like that. I think listening to audio books at the parade is a great idea!!
I will definitely get the book to you before then. I could ship it overnight or something, lmao!
And I love all the updates to your blog....and thanks for posting my button!

  2. I love books! I love the feel and the smell of a new book! I love to be transported to another place or time, and I love to be kept guessing! I love a happy ending! I think that I prefer to read a book than to watch a film...books always go into more detail! I have some books downloaded, but it is not the same!

  3. I really do love book too! I don't have as much time to read as I would like, but I'm always looking for good book to add to my "to read" list :)

  4. I, too, adore books. So congrats on your blog win!

AND... pray tell, where is YOUR favorite book list? Isn't there some sorta widget out there that lets you name your fave books on a shelf?

    I think there is.

Anywho, I'm always on the look out for books I can look up and check out from the library or buy.
